Orco Construction Supply

The winter of 2005 was one of the worst in history since 1916 in the Reno / Sparks area. The snowfall was over 6 feet deep with freezing temperatures causing a thick layer of ice beneath the heavy, wet snow. The retail tenants, whose livelihood depend upon customers visiting their stores to shop, needed snow removal night and day, with sidewalks cleared for foot traffic and to mitigate safety concerns. The members of property management worked with maintenance staff and our proven vendors to ensure the properties were plowed, sidewalks were cleared, and buildings were safe. When plowed, snow piles were stacked as high as second story buildings and in some cases, trucked away. Many older buildings had so much snow on the rooftops that their roofs were in danger of collapsing. One building in particular needed immediate attention. Our solution was to set 27 columns with floating joist hangers in the Orco Construction Supply building. They went in on Sunday night and worked until completed, so that Orco could continue with business as usual Monday morning.
